LDMS Knights Win Joust at Bay Lane

USCF Open Division (not pictured = Chris)
USCF U-700 Division

K-6 Division

Congratulations again to Lake Denoon Middle School chess team for a great tournament at Bay Lane Middle School. Two more 1st place team trophies, and a close 2nd. We also took home 6 more individual trophies.
Our cross-town rivals hosted their own tournament, and LDMS brought 14 players who divided into three divisions: K-12, K-6 and Under700 rated. Our K-6 team of Jason, Kolt, Brian, Anthony and Blake took 1st place.
Our U-700 team of Josh, Rachel, Jacob, Willa, and John also took 1st place in that division. Wins by Rachel and Willa in the 6th round iced it for LDMS. Way to go Girls!!!!
Our USCF Open (k-12) team of Evan and Reid, Jorin and Chris (k-3 unrated national champs a few years ago) tied for first place, but took 2nd place on tie-breakers to a very tough Eisenhower Middle School. Gregory Jr of Bay lane won the K-12 division by avenging his loss at Grade Level to Evan! Evan said "I didn't really blunder today... he really just outplayed me. He deserved it." This was a very tough division on this day!
Individual trophies went to Jason who went 6-0 to win the K-6 Division, Josh who went 5-1 to take 2nd in the U-700 division. Great job Jason and Josh!!!
Other individual trophies were won by Kolton, Brian, Evan, and Reid.

Kudos to Mr. Reese and the WSCA for holding a great, well-organized and fun tournament!

This year the tournament will be held at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 1025 N. Broadway 53202 <-click for map Click here to see the tournament flyer with all the details. In the 5th round, we have the following projected pairings (White vs. Black shown):
Round 5

Kolt (3.0) Vs. Chris (2.5)
Brian Vs. JacobG

Zeke Vs. Anthony
David Vs. Ben

Willa - TBD

If Rachel beats Jason, then she will play the winner of the game between Reid and Evan for the 09-10 LDMS tournament championship! If Jason beats Rachel, then the winner of Reid Vs. Evan is the champion. If Reid and Evan Draw, and Rachel beats Jason, Rachel is the champion. If Reid and Evan Draw, and Jason beats Rachel, then there will be a three-way tie between Jason, Reid and Evan which will be played off in subsequent weeks. A tie breaker will not decide this tournament!!!
