This week, we divided into two groups- tournament beginners, and tournament veterans.
The vets played openings, until a player was up a "piece" (knight, bishop, rook, or queen). Each player was awarded one chess point for each opening-game "won."
The beginners had some instruction, then joined the same opening game exercise, practicing on opening tactics to achieve advantages (or minimally, equality) while avoiding the traps that sometimes bite beginners!
See you next Monday! Let me know if anyone either NEEDS a ride or can GIVE a ride! Thank you.
